We’ll Get ‘Em Next Year . . .

I saw the above image on my nephew’s Facebook feed this morning, and only Atlanta Braves fans will truly understand. Last night’s game was nothing short of a debacle. I had to call my dad when it was over to make sure he hadn’t had a stroke in the first inning. Bless his heart. He answered the phone saying “I don’t want to talk about it.” but by the end of the conversation, he told me “we’ll get ’em next year.”

Ah, the lies sports fans tell themselves.

For the past couple of days, M has been working on a natural area in front of our house. It had been surrounded with wood to hold back the dirt, but the wood has rotted away over time. We decided to change out the wood for stone and he has been laying the stone blocks in place of the wood. When I got home last night, he showed me the work he has been doing.

Turns out, he has stacked the cement blocks, one on top of the other – without staggering them – and hasn’t used any type of adhesive to hold them together. They’re just stacked up in front of the dirt they’re meant to hold in place.

Hmmmm . . . Maybe he and I will watch some Youtube videos on block wall building and then try it again this weekend.

  1. I asked my husband tonight if the Braves lost. I knew they were losing miserable right off the bat, pardon the pun. He didn’t know, so you answered my question, yes they lost. That’s too bad, because it is always fun when they are in the playoffs or World Series.

God bless M, he’s trying so hard.

  2. You know, he really is. We watched a couple of “how to” videos last night and I think we have a better idea of what NOT to do. It will be a nice Saturday project.
